Brands serving up some delicious content

Food has become more than just something we put in our bodies for energy. It’s developed into a lifestyle, with many millennials now referring to themselves as “foodies”. When we’re served up a dish or make one ourselves, we don’t instantly go to pick up our knives and forks but our phones instead.

This trend has been fuelled by social media and in particular Instagram. Hashtag terms such as “InstaFood” and “FoodPorn” pull in thousands of images on the platform daily.

With so much food content online brands have been forced to get creative with their Insta feed (no pun intended). Here’s our pick of Instagrammably gorgeous food accounts.

WEETABIX – HERO PRODUCT

When you have just one product to work with, content can become repetitive and boring. Weetabix have managed to take their dull product and turn it into something colourful, fresh and exciting. The brands feed as a whole appears like one giant kitchen table full of tasty bowls, each single image also gives their audience new ideas on how they can make their Weetabix delicious and flavoursome. WHOLEFOODS – USER GENERATED CONTENT 

Wholefoods Insta feed is full of mouth watering and healthy(ish) food shots. However most of these images were taken by their foodie customers. Tapping into the Insta food sharing trend the brand encourages UGC (user generated content) through unique hashtags such as #MakesMeWhole, which pulls in over 75k images on Instagram. Wholefoods keep their feed consistent, using customer images that have the same look and feel throughout. Take a look here.

DONNYBROOK FAIR – SEASONAL 

We may be a little biased, given we manage the account but Donnybrook Fair is all about local, fresh and quality food. This concept is beautifully illustrated on their Instagram feed with the emphasis put on D|F’s natural homemade food approach. Keeping it seasonal, images are also styled with complementary accessories reflective of the time of year. 

CALIFIA FARMS – DIVERSITY 

Califia Farms is a non-dairy milk alternative, however looking at their Instagram feed you’d think that they produce delicious food too. The brand do a great job at diversifying their product, showing their audience different ways to use their non dairy milks through snappy, eye catching recipe videos and vibrant images. Using a playful and aspirational lifestyle tone, they make it hard not to flick through their feed again and again. 

THRILLIST – #FOODPORN

And of course no food Insta blog would be complete unless we included an example that was the very idea of #FoodPorn. While Thrillist isn’t a food brand, their Insta feed is full of all those indulgent pizzas, burgers and desserts you’ve ever wanted. Here you’ll find those slow mo stringy cheese videos and food that’s most likely to give you a heart attack. Nonetheless their content is something we drool over and makes for great binge scrolling.
