As London breathes a collective sigh of relief that winter has slunk away, we can finally consider packing the winter woolies to the back of the wardrobe. Call us blindly optimistic but we’re anticipating months of basking in the summer sun in some of the city’s most gorgeous outdoor spaces.
Here’s some of our favourite places to make the most of the British summertime for your next event.
QUEEN OF HOXTON
This trendy Shoreditch bar & club is a regular host for live music and DJ acts. Year round, hip Shoreditch kids lounge on the big sofas sipping cocktails and playing retro pinball, but in the summer; the rooftop bar comes into its element; hosting BBQ’s, installations and all sorts of fantastical pop ups against the stunning backdrop of the London skyline. The space can be privately booked for 50 – 500 people, making it a versatile option- it’s worth booking this venue early as available summer dates don’t hang around for long.
LAND OF BAMBOO (Hawker House)
This topical tiki paradise can be found in the outdoor space at Hawker House during the months of May – September. Sand pits, trampolines, wooden huts and a towering fire are all crammed into this South East London car park, making it perfect for large scale summer events and parties. Street food traders and bars already in situ, making catering a breeze (although if they don’t fit with your theme, you’re welcome to bring in alternative food & drink), and the space welcomes all manner of events from pop ups and exhibitions, to weddings and parties.
This truly spectacular venue located on the Greenwich Peninsula is considered to be one of Europe’s most unique outdoor event spaces. Complete with giant palm trees, festoon lighting and bespoke furnishing; the venue can comfortably host a wide range of events, from live music to open-air summer parties. The space has full production facilities on site, and provides a complete blank canvas where you can really let your imagination run wild.
If you really want to go big, this canal-side square in the heart of high footfall King’s Cross is a great choice. It has previously played host to festivals, events, installations and performances meaning the space is highly versatile and suitable for a huge range of events. A unique and striking feature of the space are choreographed fountains – 1080 individually lit water jets and coloured spotlights; which can really add a wow factor to your event, or be covered to take the space to its full capacity of 5000 people.
BAR TERRACE (Coq D’Argent)
For something a little more intimate, Bar Terrace at the famous city bar Coq D’Argent allows you to create something really special. It is available for exclusive hire, with up to 100 people being accommodated for a standing reception of drinks and canapes. This is the perfect spot for parties, networking and more intimate celebrations. The fantastic views over London add a real touch of magic to this gorgeous space – the location alone will pretty much guarantee acceptance of your invitations, whatever the occasion.
