So you’ve booked a booth at a trade show or fair, hoping to get your brand noticed by guests… but with such competition, how do you ensure your brand cuts through the noise?
We run through six tips for grabbing attention and drawing visitors to your display.
1.If You Can’t Go Big, Go High!
2. Free Swag
Giveaways are a key feature at trade shows and fairs. Usually, guests leave with dozens of branded pens, notepads, and the odd travel mug. Chances are, they will be thrown into a desk drawer and not seen again.
Get adventurous with your gifts and give away something that will be used. Think outside the box!
Google is notorious for its legendary swag bags at the Google I/O conference for developers in Mountain View, CA. In recent years, attendees have been given hundreds of dollars worth of swag – from smartwatches to tablets and top of the range Android phones.
3. Be Active On Social Media
As with any event, social media is a key tool to drive awareness and footfall to your booth or stand. Create a social media content calendar in the weeks prior to the event, and plug your presence. Let followers know what to expect from your stand and why they should visit.
On-site, make sure to have a dedicated staff member continuously live posting from the event using the events official hashtag. This way, your stand will be included in search feeds. For bonus points, why not use a live streaming service like Facebook or Instagram Live to do live Q and A’s with your reps?
Every year at SXSW, Samsung hosts live streaming video content with celebrities and innovators, drastically increasing their social media presence.
Having a unique engagement piece is a sure-fire way to get visitors over to your booth. Try including an experiential element to your booth that trumps the competition. In the past, we’ve used virtual/mixed reality demos and live social media competitions to draw in visitors. Think outside the box, and give visitors something they haven’t seen before.
5. Offer a useful service
A great way to generate footfall is to offer them a useful service. In the past, we’ve provided coffee docks, device screen cleaning services, CV building workshops and free wifi. These offerings make sure that visitors stick around, and staff can chat with them about their brand.
Casper, the bedding specialists, nailed this idea when they provided the public with free, super comfy nap pods with phone charging units.
6. Interactive Technology
By using the tips above, you’re booth will be swarming with visitors! Add a digital information kiosk or installation to your stand, so users can access information about your brand easily and fast, in the event that staff are tied up talking to other visitors. All kinds of touchscreen units are readily available to rent at affordable prices. Ask your AV supplier for a quote. Toyota took their digital installation to the next level, constructing a fully moveable X-Ray machine so visitors could see the inner workings of their new model.
