Innovative Event Ideas – Choc art

Here in Verve we are constantly trying to think of creative ways to integrate new exciting element to our events. With keeping art week in mind and following a recent visit to the UK, we spotted a nifty product that combines both the food and art world together. Choc art is a unique, creative and tasty way to have branding at any event. These edible branding products can be used as invitations, gifts or treats for your guests at any event. Using chocolate slabs with white chocolate for logos, messages or pictures, brands and companies can use this imaginative product to communicate to their consumers in an interesting and effective way.

We are looking forward to incorporating this exciting and delicious product at our upcoming events!

Art Week, March 2013

In the spirit of Art Week, Offset wanted to cover every aspect of the creative process, from what happens on the street to what goes on in the studio; featuring art, sculpture and installations. Offset invited Le Cool to be a part of the creativity. Le Cool is a free digital magazine that is produced weekly, sharing what’s on and where to go in Dublin, from the coolest art exhibitions and concerts, to the funkiest bars and restaurants. Le Cool was invited to provide content for Offset’s website, focusing on artists and designers of the creative world.

lecool_feat

Le Cool’s theme for Art Week was on ‘inspiration’ and what inspires us. In-keeping with this theme, Le Cool did a feature each day of Art Week on a ‘Craft Punk’, someone who is currently involved in the creative world and producing interesting work. To keep the creativity flowing, rather than document their ‘Craft Punk’s’ processes solely in written form, Le Cool asked their favourite photographers, Sean Breithaupt and Yvette Monaghan, to create a series of photo essays to illustrate the fantastic work of the creative world. To show the spectrum of art featured in Le Cool’s Art Week posts, check out two of our favourite interviews with designers of two completely different art mediums – Danielle Romeril, a fashion designer http://iloveoffset.com/news/le-cools-craft-punks-danielle-romeril/ and Shane Guerrini, the creative director of Dublin Ink http://iloveoffset.com/news/le-cools-craft-punks-shane-guerrini/.

The World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Arkansas

Not only is this weekend a big day for Ireland but it is a big day worldwide, from Brisbane in Australia, to Montserrat in the Caribbean Sea. Over the last few decades, the Irish population has spread itself across the globe and Hot Springs, Arkansas is no exception. This small town of 35,000 residents, over 4,000 miles from Ireland, has adopted the tradition of hosting the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day parade. Last year for 2012, the ‘Spa City’ was painted green for the big day. This year, 2013, Hot Springs will be celebrating the 10th year that the celebration will be held. It is estimated that 30,000 people will attend. The various characters of the parade, including the “World’s Oldest Leprechaun” at a ripe age of ninety-five, will march across the 98-foot-long Bridge Street. There are other exciting festivities such as a Blarney Stone Kissing Contest and the measuring of the parade route to keep everyone entertained throughout the day. Hot Springs promise a quirky and exciting celebration for the infamous St. Patrick’s Day.

Have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day this weekend!

P.S. We have great taste!

So as everyone knows, the 2013 Oscars were held on Sunday evening, filled with red carpet beauties and golden statues! In one of previous posts, we raved about Disney’s creative team and their recent short film called the ‘Paperman’. We must have our finger on the pulse as it won the Oscar for best animated short film! Well done to John Kahrs and his talented team!

If you didn’t see it before, check out the video here.

The Vervies Grand Day Out!

After a busy start to the year, we reckoned a team-bonding day was in order. A team of Vervies were whisked away to Kildare to partake in some clay-pigeon shooting and 4×4 off-roading. Some of our team took to the clay-pigeon shooting like ducks to water, while others nursed bruised egos after missing the majority of their targets! There were a few memorable moments during the 4×4 off-roading, from indicating up vertical slopes to flooding engines. All in all, it was an interesting, fun team-building day out! And of course, no Verve day out is complete without some nom nosh and karaoke.

Innovation: Disney Animation’s Paperman

In Verve we’re always on the look out for inspirational ideas, concepts and designs. They may or may not always relate directly to events or activations but what inspires us are ideas that push the boundaries. Ideas that take traditional elements and combine it with a new modern twist or direction. Ideas that are innovative… and this is exactly what Disney Animation have done with their new full animated short film ‘Paperman’.

“Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, “Paperman.” Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Paperman” pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction.”

Harbin Ice and Snow Festival

The annual Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival takes place every January in the north east of China. Beginning on the 5th of January, the festival runs for over a month and showcases some of the best collections of ice artworks, lit up with LED lights. Despite the incredible displays of artwork, it is not for the faint hearted.  The average temperature in the winter is around -16.8 degrees Celsius in winter, with annual low temperatures below -35C not uncommon.
